Traditional hip and knee replacement surgery would often require patients to spend several nights in the hospital. After discharge many patients who go to a nursing home/rehab facility for 1-2 weeks to recover.

As a part of Dr. Makda’s FAST Track Joint replacement protocol, patients undergoing outpatient joint replacement return home hours after their surgery. Patients then recover in their own homes while participating in post-operative rehabilitation. Dr. Makda and his team will provide comprehensive support you need to complete your at-home recovery.

Am I a Candidate for Outpatient Joint Replacement?

Not everyone qualifies for outpatient total joint replacement. Generally, motivated patients who do not have significant underlying health conditions or concerns, are typically able to undergo same-day, outpatient surgery.

• Good overall health
• Motivated
• Mobile
• Good support system of friends and family
